This beautiful kitchen remodel leans classic and also modern with the bold black on white theme. The subtle touches of gold soften the contrast and add in a sense of elegance. The original kitchen was heavy and dark with all the stained cabinets. We were able to simplify and brighten the space by eliminating some of the living room cabinets and come in with fresh new white semi-custom cabinets for the majority and added in that fun touch of stained back at the island, bar and hood. This kitchen had a handful of challenges due to its location in the house. This house is a tri-level which meant we had existing framing, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical all throughout the existing floor and ceilings of the space.
One of the most challenging aspects was the range hood. There was not only structural framing in the ceiling but there were water lines for the upper floor right in our way which forced us to abandon the previously selected metal hood surround and presented us with an opportunity to create a completely custom hood surround that was fabricated by our very own carpenter JP. The breathtaking quartzite countertop at the island and range splash are the real show stoppers of the space and were a last minute splurge after the client fell completely in love with the slab at the showroom.
